Our client is seeking an experienced QHSE Manager with Offshore Maritime experience to join their team in Lisbon, Portugal.

You will ensure the organisation's compliance with quality, health, safety, environmental, and standards.

The mission:

Quality: Leads the implementation, continuous improvement, and promotion of the Integrated Management System (IMS) within the organization, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This includes:

  • Developing, maintaining, and managing the quality management system (QMS).
  • Championing a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing performance monitoring, audits, and risk mitigation.
  • Managing non-conformities, corrective actions, and documentation control.
  • Collaborating with process owners and auditors.
  • Gathering and analysing customer feedback.

HSE: Leads and manages the organisation's safety, health, environment (HSE) program, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards. This includes:

  • Developing and implementing emergency response plans, environmental policies, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Managing budgets and resources for training, compliance, and improvement initiatives.
  • Conducting audits and assessments to identify and address safety hazards and environmental concerns.
  • Providing training and education on QHSES policies and procedures to all personnel.
  • Investigating incidents, implementing corrective actions, and sharing lessons learned.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture through leadership, communication, and team engagement.
  • Encouraging compliance with relevant standards and best practices.
  • Reporting and analyzing QHSES performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborating with departments and external entities on QHSES matters.
  • Promoting environmentally responsible practices.
  • Engaging employees in QHSES initiatives.


Your profile:

  • Valid bachelor's/master's degree, or a minimum of 10 years of experience in the same role and in same/related industry.
  • Maritime/Marine experience is an absolute MUST for this role including Offshore experience.
  • Proficient in maritime English.
  • Spoken French is important, as you will be dealing with clients who speak French.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • A decade of experience within a related industry (shipping, Oil & Gas, maritime)
  • Extensive knowledge of international quality and safety standards, regulations, and certifications pertaining to the operational environment (ISO, QSHE, Marine Certifications and Regulations)
  • Deep understanding of relevant legal frameworks, international agreements, and maritime industry best practices.
  • Proven leadership skills, coupled with exceptional communication abilities in both oral and written formats, ensuring clear instructions and constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and make sound decisions, particularly under pressure and time constraints.
  • Adaptability to handle diverse operational demands and work schedules.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, fostering a strong team environment.
