Build Manager - Electrical Vehicle Charging Points
Working in Hammersmith, UK - with travel required across the UK
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the build plan, knows exactly what's happening, when and what the key issues and considerations are, that might impact delivery and feeds these back to Leadership Team
- Develops close working relationship with transport specialists, planning team, build partners and suppliers to ensure they deliver on-time and to budget once contract (with CPO) signed
- Works with build partners, suppliers and VM to look for opportunities to reduce build costs and drive process efficiencies
- Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations, using a range of computer software for developing detailed designs
- Designing and maintaining EV charging infrastructure, compiling job specs, preparing contract documents, and supervising tendering procedures
- Resolving design and development problems
- Provides service reporting on all live EVCs sites and works to minimize outages
- Provides accurate cost estimates at the earliest part of sales process - owns the delivery of cost estimates as part of sales cycle
- Planning and supervising projects, managing construction teams, and supervising roadworks
- Ensuring projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time, managing budgets and project resources
- Scheduling material and equipment purchases and deliveries
- Making sure the project complies with legal requirements, especially health and safety
- Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of project
Key Success Factors
- Focussed on delivering cost effective builds to budget and time
- Manages the deployment plan from commit point onwards
- Reports on service delivery (post go-live) to ensure SLAs are met
Qualifications and Education
- BSc in networks, engineering or IT
- 6+ years of infrastructure build experience involving fast-paced delivery cycles
- Experience with process improvement and inventory control
- Advanced time management and analytical skills
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Results driven and committed to high standards of project management
- Full Clean Driving Licence
Skills
- Focused on delivery to time and budget, whilst meeting growth goals
- Able to juggle multiple conflicting priorities at once
- Expertise across deployment of power and telco infrastructure
- Deep knowledge of construction activities
- Excellent understanding of civil works processes for new infrastructure build and all the issues this entails
- Knowledge of EVC value chain highly desirable
- Commercially astute looks for ways to optimise our solution
Experience
- Proven experience (4 years minimum) as an assistant build manager, ideally within a similar sized business or one that has been through a similar journey.
- Recognised project management certification like PRINCE2, PMP or related is preferred
- Qualified NRSWA Supervisor and Health & Safety accreditation is preferred
- Smart city and IOT experience is an advantage
